Simpsons Cake

Simpsons Cake on Cake Central

I made the Simpsons with flood icing. They were delicate so I think next time I use flood icing I will give it more time and maybe a reinforcer coat of flood icing on the back. Does anyone know if that would help, or have any other suggestions? It was a fun cake to make - and very funny when we lit 27 birthday candles and the Simpsons' arms caught on fire! It's a yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

I'm not familiar with flood icing but it looks great! How did you get it to stand? Love the color combo and it looks delicious as well :D

Flood icing is basically just royal icing thinned with water. I piped a royal icing border on wax paper and filled in the design with flood icing. I think it is also called run sugar (but I could be wrong) and I think it's similar to Wilton's Color-Flow icing as well. After it dried hard, I peeled it off the wax paper, stuck it in the cake and put toothpicks behind it for support. I had to be careful so it wouldn't break - If you look close you'll notice Lisa lost an arm...
