Grapes And Calla Lilies
This cake was a tough one...had to rebake the layers. My first square wedding cake, and didn't realize that for such large squares I ought to have used a core. Thanks to the people on this site and their advice, the layers bakes beautifully and evenly. Marshmallow fondant, gumpaste callas, and plastic grapes provided by the groom. I would have done without the plastic grapes, but not my choice!
Lovely cake! Could you explain about the core and how you got your layers even?
I agree...the cake definitely didn't need the grapes. But, you're right....Not your call. But still was an elegant and well made cake.
Don't get me wrong, I love the grapes; I just would have used real ones, not fake plastic.
Very elegant and beautiful
very nice... I agree i could skip the plastic grapes too.
I think you did a beautiful job with the grapes. It still looks very professional!
I am also wanting to know what you meant by "core". I my first wedding to do in a month and they want large square cakes.
