Usaf Drill Sgt. Hat
This is a cake I made for my hubby's co-worker's going-away. It is 3 - 8" rounds stacked and then carved to the shape of the hat. The brim is cardboard cut to shape. It is filled and crumb-coated in buttercream and then covered in fondant. The medalion was made out of gumpaste painted with silver luster dust that I made from a handmade mold of the actual medalion. It was all made exactly to scale of my husband's Drill Sgt. Hat. The Drill Sgts. were crazy about it! It was my first attempt at 3D

Oh My Goodness!!! Thank You for the GREAT comments! This cake was a lot of fun to do. It was my 2nd cake to do for anyone other than my kids! The Sgt. I made the cake for would NOT let anyone cut into his cake. It was on a table at the resteraunt and strangers were coming up to see it! My hubby was so proud! He emailed pics to all of his drill sgt buddies! Thank you all again!! :USA:
