Beer Cooler

Beer Cooler on Cake Central

This cake was made by stacking 3 9x13s. I used a cookie cutter to make holes for the beers. The "ice" is made with plain gelatin.

How do you keep the bottles from messing up the cake due to the weight of the bottles? If you don't mind I would also love the recipe for this as well. Thank you!!!!!

Thanks for your interest! This one is 3 8x12s stacked and iced in BC. I decorated it then made the holes for the beers (w/a buscuit cutter). I did not place the beers in the cake till I got to the location... that's the ONLY way I would recommend doing this. Then I placed the "ice" & lid. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Great job! If you don't mind me asking. What is the recipe for the gelatin and water? I tried something like this once and the gelatin melted!

Love this cake! I'm going to try it this week for my niece's 19th birthday. I'm wondering about the "ice" Do you take it off before eating the cake? It wouldn't taste really good would it?

I have never used the plain gelatin. Is it made jsut like regular jello? Is it stiffer than regular jello?

I have used the cooler cake idea just last week and used rock candy for ice, yours is much better. Did you mold the gelatin in ice molds or just a sheet pan and cut? Great cake.

I heard about the rock candy idea but gelatin is easier to get for me. I just made the gel in 2-3 loaf pans and cut the squares.

This is awesome! For the top layer did you have to cut out a bit? it looks like a bit of a ledge around the edges, or maybe that's just created with the icing?

The lid is made from a cake board I taped to make waterproof and iced. The holes for the beers were cut with a biscuit cutter.

I've done a few beer cakes and could never think of anything easy for the ice- the gelatin idea is great!! This looks awsome!

Great job, I need to make one of these this month and love it that you made it without fondant. I like fondant but the birthday boy doesn't so I think I'll try your version. thanks for sharing.
