In album: mom
I admit this was her b-day cake, but it seems to fit the theme.
There's a story about the buttons - mom is a master seamstress and when I was a kid she could not stand to let me wear anything 'store bought' without at least changing the buttons. That's been a life theme for us - if nothing else works, at least try changing the buttons!

The buttons are so realistic. What are they made from? Is this an edible image of your mom?

Thanks! The buttons are made from fondant, pressed into molds (candy molds, ordered over the internet) and then dusted. I worked on these for days in advance! It was a labor of love.... And yes, the picture of my mom at 14 is an edible image - also ordered over the internet as I don't have a printer for this.

These buttons are great, my friend wants a wedding cake with buttons, please can you tell me where you got the button molds from? Thank you :)

Thanks again for the kind comments. I'm afraid I don't recall where I got the molds, so I would just google candy molds or cholcolate molds and have fun searrching! Good luck - please post a pic when you're done!

This cake is amazing, and I love the story that goes with it!
