My First Tiered Cake
I made this cake for my parents' 40th anniversary last August. It was my first attempt at a tiered cake, at smoothing buttercream, at transporting a cake. I used a very soft buttercream (non-crusting) that tastes like whipped cream b/c my mom loves it. In retrospect, I probably should have gone with the soft consistency of the icing and made it wavy rather than trying to smooth it. Each tier is three layers, alternating chocolate & white, filled with whipped chocolate ganache.
The cake behind it is a chocolate vegan cake made by my SIL, iced in vegan buttercream, and decorated with fresh flowers.
Pretty cake. I like the two-toned ribbon. That's a neat effect.
