In album: rabbit
This is for my daughter's school raffle. I donated a cake last year which they used as the fourth prize, this year it has made it to first prize! Made from a 10" square, white chocolate mud cake, carved then crumb coated with buttercream with a fondant layer over that. I used a knife to make the "fur" marks and the grass on the board is made by pressing the tip of a star tube into the green fondant whilst it's still wet.

HOW do you carve that out of a square cake? That is awesome!!
blessBeckysbaking 4/9/06 at 2:24am
wonderful!

Thanks, to carve this I cut the cake in half and sandwiched one half on top of the other with buttercream, then I froze it overnight. Then I just hacked away at it until I was happy with the basic shape. I also used as much of the carved cake as possible to build up the legs and the rear of the bunny. I think you just need to give it a go and realize if you make a mistake and cut off too much, you can just stick it back on again. It's really just trial and error and having a go. :)

Sorry everyone, I haven't made myself clear. The cake is for a fundraiser for my daughter's school, it's going to be the first prize in an Easter raffle, I haven't entered it into a competition. Thank you all for your kind words :)
