Ksu Whimsical
First attempt at a tilted cake. Did this for a local cake contest....learned as I went. My theme was obviously KSU...but took it a step further and put our instate rival's mascot "in jail" on the back side! LOLOL They're Jayhawks....as if anyone cares!!!!!!!!!!! MMF was a mess for me....too dry and not a smooth application at all. Gumpaste flowers with floral ribbon and filler added. Luster Dust and Pearl Dust here and there. FUN but stressful!

LOL....well, in the construction process, I wasn't sure that it WOULDN'T fall! LOL I followed Colette Peters' instructions in her book, CAKES TO DREAM ON. She made it sound fairly easy......It made me breathe heavy!!! LOL And I had to construct it at home and drive it to the competition site! I made my husband drive and I held the cake AND my breath.

I know you posted this a LONG time ago but I just happened upon it today. It is awesome! I am from KS and moved to Chicago about 3 years ago. It makes me miss home!! I graduated from KU but I will forgive you, the cake is amazing! Great job! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, this looks great! I'm too chicken to attempt a tilted cake. I try so hard to make mine level!! I guess a person could red o this with the wildcat in jail and the "you-know-what" on the front. I sure admire your first on this one. Wow!
