Elegant Baby Shower

I wanted to make a cake as elegant as the mum to be. I have long wanted to make a white flower with gold detailing so here it is. It is halfway between a magnolia and a peony.

The cake was a test cake and it was a success according to the comments at the party. The recipe is a vintage American recipe called "Old Vermont Burnt Sugar Cake with Maple Cream Cheese frosting" from Baker & Spice's 'Vintage Cakes'.
