I made this cake for my 7 year old son's birthday. He had a LOT of ideas..volcano, ocean, crab...then he wanted it to move and I finally had to say no! :) I tried to roll all his ideas into this one cake. I used a tip from the Fondant Flinger to make the "sand." I added ground cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon to my fondant to give it a grainy appearance. The volcano is gumpaste, all other decorations are fondant and the bubbles are edible pearls.
