This is the birthday cake for home party of my 2 years old son. It's a sponge cake (Italian "pan di Spagna") cooked in hemispheric cake pan and filled with custard (Italian "crema pasticcera"). The covering is all self made almond paste (except for the commercial sugar flowers ... and for the candles) .
