Baby Shower Cake With Bassinet Topper

I had so much fun making this cake, especially the topper. I would like to thank cake central subscriber, ptanyer, who gave me the wonderful tip to use a scrapbook punch to make the "lace". The cake community on this site is so generous with sharing their knowledge.....I've learned so much and I am very grateful.

I really love your baby cake topper.  It is absolutely beautiful!  I have to make one for my daughter who is expecting in April.  Do you mind sharing what you use to make the bottom part of the bassinet?

Thank you.

Hi drmoo!  Thank you for the lovely compliment!  Sure, the base of the bassinet is a styrofoam dummy cake carved into an oval shape.  Hope that helps!  Good luck!

Ann Marie,

Thank you very much for the prompt response!  I thought that was what you use, but I was not sure.  Your answer helps me tremendously.  Thank you very much for sharing.

@Janiragreen...sorry about the delayed response on this....I just saw it because another member left a comment.  Yes, you are correct...it is floral wire between two sheets of fondant mixed with tylose powder.

@Vazqquezliza76...I used a Martha Stewart lace paper puncher.

Thank you both for the lovely compliments!
