Quilted Bed

Quilted Bed on Cake Central

This cake was done for a friend of a friend who took my old bed to the trash. To be honest I just wanted to practice making a bed cake. I tried to be scientific about the whole thing and measure and even made and exact replica of the quilt on power point but in the end I had to improvise because I didn't take into account the rise of the cake (I didn't want to level it because I bed is fluffy) and the extra inches added on by the frosting. Anyway lessons learned

Thanks. The white is MMF. I'd planned to use all MMF but didn't have enough so the bed is covered in white MMF and the colored squares and triangles are wilton fondant "glued" to it with vanilla flavoring. I've never used rolled buttercream but i'm interested in trying it. I brushed corn syrup on it in an attempt to keep it from drying out. that's why it looks so shiny

I have a friend that makes everyones kids quilts because she loves too. This is a wonderful job. Is this fondant? It looks kind of like rolled buttercream on the quilt and pillows. What a cute idea!

Thanks all. Yes, I did use a silicone muffin cup for the table top. This was a lot of fun. Thanks for all your compliments.
