I LOVE this cake!!!  Are the flamingo feathers also gum paste?  If so, did you just roll it out thin and them to the body to make a feathery look?  Also, did you just tilt your gum paste that color or did you paint it with food coloring afterwards?

THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks! Yep, the feathers are also gum paste. I rolled it really thin then used some petal cutters to get the shape I wanted. Then I added texture to make them look more like feathers and attached them to the body. I used white gum paste so I could have the white on the beaks and then painted it the final color.

My "last question" didn't post???  Was just asking if you painted your gum paste right after shaping or did you wait for it to dry?

Hi! This cake is fantastic, and I'm trying to replicate it for my niece's 10th birthday because she is in love with it :)

Could you please let me know how you got the texture and shape on the flamingo feathers? Any help would  be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks! If I remember correctly, the feathers were made from peony cutters and I just used a ball tool to ruffle the edges and a dresden tool to create the texture. I hope that helps!
