In album: crab
Made for Crawfish boil party. It's 1/2 sheet cake made of 70+ cupcakes w/ B/C then covered with tablecloth made of marzipan & sprayed w/lines. Used waferpaper "newsprint" w/ friendly news! Made marzipan, lemons, garlic & sausages, & marzipan chocolate covered Crawfish, Crab & Potatoes. Also made Zatarains box out of chocolate with wafer paper for details & filled with nerds w/ small opening so people were eating them right out of the box. Just a few feet away the real thing, it was great fun!

Now that's just plain cute! I love this idea - I am a crab lover and this could be used for that too! Awesome and inspiring - great job :cake:

Thanks, lot of work yes, but I have been making chocolates and marzipan for now about 25 years, so those are really easy for me. Getting the ideas now, that is more work. There are so many pictures that trigger ideas on this web site I just love it. Thanks again and keep on baking.

Thanks, I actually got my inspiration looking at Louisianna Cakes, one that inspired me most was a black kettle type with crawfish and water bubbling over. It was great. I think that's were I got the Zatarains idea too. I cant find it right now, but I will look for it.

what did you use for the corn? is it a mold? i've got to do a crawfish boil cake tonight, and need a quick idea for corn on the cob
gateaux 3/22/07 at 5:37pm
The corn on the cob mold is really a fruit type mold with pineapple, I just omited the leaves part just made sure my chocolate was a little cooler or firmer when I was covering the marzipan and it worked out pretty good. I also made 2 little tobasco sauce bottles from mini bottle molds & placed wafer paper labels on them.

This is awesome! I have a crab boil in July and was wanting to do something like this! How did you do the crab and crawfish?
gateaux 4/5/07 at 8:21pm
Just chocolate molds, I gave some a quick brush with white or dark chocolate & filled them with red. You go down your recipe and make whatever you can think of. I checked 1/2 way through to see if everything fit and I ended up making twice as much as I originally thougth. So if you can make them ahead of time think of that too. I am sure there is a better way to make the sausage, that was the one thing I really had issues with. Oh well Good Luck.
