Still Experimenting!

Still Experimenting! on Cake Central

I'm trying! I've only been decorating for about 3 months though. It's actually hard to find a reason to bake, birthdays and holidays are about it. So maybe once a month I get out the decorating "stuff". You'd just about have to do a cake once a week just to get the hang of things and pick up your own "mastered techniques". The lace work is harder than you'd think! A steady hand is key!! (Which I'm still waiting on :)

I love this cake. Your roses, leaves and beads at the bottom are awesome. I love this shade of green. Yes you do need a steady hand to do the lace and you did a good job. I just think that covering the cake board with the silver cake foil would have been the iceing on this cake. Just my 2 cents I hope you don't mind.

It's very pretty. I make a cake almost every week. It's the only dessert we have anymore. I haven't been doing very long either. You can also just whip up some icing and use a practice board while your watching tv or something. But great work.

This is a really great color. The fact that you have only been doing cakes for three months impresses me!!! I think I might actually use your cake as inspiration for a Mother's Day cake this year. My mom would just love this!!

Well thanks! I was trying for a wedgewood green. I used juniper with a touch of ivory. For the center rose I just placed a mound of buttercream to sit it on. I definately will start wrapping all my cake boards.

Very beutiful, the simplicity of this cake makes it very elegant. I think your cake board is fine, very appropriate that the cake is centered between the scallop design on the board. Keep up the good work!!

I think this is a beautiful cake and the green color is just perfect. I'm thinking of doing this only with pink roses - thanks for the tip on the color that you used.
