My San Diego Cake Club's Cakes On Parade Entry

My San Diego Cake Club's Cakes On Parade Entry on Cake Central

3 tiers covered in a light burgandy fondant. All piping decorations were done with royal icing and flowers are fondant. I took the dot idea from Martha Stewarts project for dot china. I thought it would look awesome on a cake. Can't see it in the picture, but the cake has a coating of luster dust to make it shimmery. I was up until 3:30AM finishing this puppy for today. Way too sleep deprived! Comment and critiques welcomed!

Great job...that;s funny...when I got that Martha mag, I ripped out that section and put it in my cake design folder to be done in the future!!! Beautiful!

Absolutely beautiful. Please excuse my tired old eyes but the design is all little dots (except the fondant flowers, of course). Is that right? What size tip did you use?

Yeah, sorry...the picture doesn't show it too well, but all the designs are done with dots and all with a tip 1. I think I could have also tried using the 1L, but tip1 worked:)

Gosh, when I saw that Martha show where she showed how to do this with china , this was what I had in mind too, everything influences a cake doesn't it? It is really lovely, I came across it by accident today and had to comment. just beautiful cake. Stunning! Good luck!

this is beautiful!!! but what is a dummy cake? All the ingredients are real but the cake itself? Where do you get the "cakes"?

on

did you lightly draw your pattern on the fondant first before you dotted it? Beautiful effect! I bet you're still seeing dots! LOL

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments! ellyrae-I pin pricked the pattern onto the fondant with a needle then dotted with royal icing.

Even though you have tons of comments on this cake already you deserve one more. Excellent work you should be very proud of yourself and it was very much worth all the sleep you missed
