gibson--they're really easy! Your body heat is enough to make Tootsie rolls soft and easy to work with. Just flatten them out into roughly petal-shaped pieces (I made 2-3 petals from each little tootsie roll) and stick them together! They're very forgiving, and so far for me WAY easier than buttercream roses! lol
oh wow! You may have just made my year! I LOVE tootsie rolls and hate making icing roses. Are these regular size tootsies or the long ones or the midgees? How do you start the center? Perhaps a tutorial? Other than that beautiful! Was this your idea?
No, they weren't my idea, I actually saw someone mention them in a thread here. I start the center by forming 2/3 of a Tootsie Roll into a Hershey's Kiss-shape. Then I just start wrapping petals around it. I just use regular size Tootsie Rolls. :) Hope this helps!
