I made this cake for my mother-in-law's 75th birthday. The flowers are real flowers. This was my first attempt at using real flowers on a cake, and it was great! I used florist 'cups' for the stems and inserted them into the cake. Instead of adding water the the cups, I wrapped the stems in wet paper towels before inserting into the 'cups'. Worked great (once I found the cups!).
