    Beautiful! What a lot of time you must have put in! Am I correct that these are made by folding fondant circles in half, then attaching in the "starfish" design? I read about it once but have forgotten. Anyway, your cake is lovely.

    Not my cake, but you do it by cutting a circle then folding up three sides (I impress lightly with a triangle cutter) in the shape of a revolutionary- era three cornered hat.

    I love this technique and hope to try it sometime soon. How did the back turn out where the design meets? Did you just leave a gap?

    Once I got within sight of where I started I judged whether I needed to start stretching or squishing to make it work. Squishing was the winner in that instance. I worked all three rows as I went around. To do it again I think I'd do the bottom row first so everything was still adjustable and could be more evenly spaced.
