The hungry caterpillar cake

This is a 10" death by chocolate cake. I hand painted the board then covered with clear contact. Each food item was cut out freehand then hand painted to look exactly like the ones in the book. Sun is gumpaste and caterpillar is fondant. When it came to her name I was not completely sure what I wanted to do but my sweet Brodie-man was there beside me and told me I should put holes in each letter like the fruit...how clever is he! Really happy with the outcome with this one but would love to do a 3 tier one where you could play with it some more.
