In: La Quinceanera in album: Children's Birthday Cakes
I made this cake for a competition. My inspiration was the floral ribbon on the top tier that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I loved the color of the ribbon so much that I decided to make a cake that looked like a dress. Quinceanera dresses are always made in such beautiful, vibrant colors. All tiers are made of fondant. The buttons are made of royal icing with an edible pearl attached to each one. The roses are gum paste. The ruffles are individual rectangles cut from fondant and pinched together on each side to make a swag and then each one is glued with gum paste/water individually.

Wow, how original, I love it!! the color is beautiful. What size are the tiers? how did you do the middle tier? awesome ideas!

Thanks, Rosie2! The tier sizes are 10" (bottom), 8" shaped styrofoam and a 6" x 6" round. I didn't have a pattern for the bodice. I just winged it, sorry. It took a lot of practice on that tier. What helped was staring at an actual dress and going from there. Thanks!
