In: Alpine ski race course cake in album: Birthday Cakes
An slpine ski race cake for my nephew who is a ski racer. This is two 3" cakes - one chocolate, one vanilla - stacked, torted, and carved down into a slope. All accessories are fondant except the chairlift posts, which are wooden dowels, and the chairs on the lift, which are floral wire since they did not touch the cake. I had made ski race wickets with actual banners on them, but I made them well in advance of the cake in order for them to harden and didn't have the correct cake scale at that time. Turns out that the wickets I made were too big, so I had to go with coloured toothpicks instead - not my preference, but oh well. Of course, the joke is with the skier balled up in snow at the bottom of the race course.
