This dessert buffet was created for a Charleston Bridal Association networking event. The cake is frosted with buttercream and decorated with fondant elements. The cupcakes are red velvet with cream cheese, and there are chocolate bourbon pecan cheesecakes.

Well, your striking cake was what drew me, but to be honest I'm now quite enamored with the chocolate bourbon pecan cheesecakes.........

Well, Kimmisue, I will consider that a compliment about the cake. To be honest, if you do not like bourbon, chocolate, or cheesecake, these would not be for you. They were sure a crowd pleaser at this event & were the first thing to go!

Definitely take it as a compliment! The cake is awesome! I just recently had my first taste of bourbon pecan pie - being from deep East Texas, I was skeptical about tampering with pecan pie - but one taste made a believer out of me so those cheesecakes are calling my name!

Kimmisue, I'm so sorry. When I read that, I thought you wrote "I'm not quite enamored." I was all ...so don't eat them. Just re-read this and am embarassed.

PRCC: Stunning graphic on the cake/colors...all of it!
    cakeyouverymuch 3/12/13 at 8:13pm
PRCC--I'm liking your edges. I can never get buttercream edges straight myself. I'm not so much liking the fondant elements on the second tier. They need to be anchored at the bottom of the tier and spread out more to the edges. As it is, though the curved shape of the design is a nice contrast to the straight lines of the cake itself and to the more architectural design on the bottom tier, it seems a bit lost on the expanse of white buttercream. The same elements on the top tier are more grounded and seem a better 'fit' with the overall design. I do like your color scheme. And could you mail me a cheesecake, they sound divine, lol.

Cake Club! I LOVE this cake! So graphic and cool! I'm not sure if it's the camera angle, but the only thing I see off are the orange lines matching up from one tier to another. It's a tricky thing to do but they look just a smidge off and out of proportion. I'd like to see a little smoother curves. Other then that, I think this looks brilliant.

Um, seriously Laney? Your cakes are perfectly perfect, in every way! I have never seen such perfect cakes.

Personally, I can't see anything that would improve this cake. From the straight-edge edges to the graphic. It is beautiful!

Cake Club. This cake is excellent. The only thing that caught my eye is that all your lovely curves are connected to each other or to the cake edges except the top one. My personal preference would be to have all connected in some way or at least one other floating. Again, Love the cake and would love a cheese cake please!

Cake Club. I wouldn't change a thing. From design to presentation I love everything about this cake and table.

Cake Club: I love the cake and the pattern on your cake. The whole set up is just beautiful to look at. While the pattern on your tiers appears a little off, it does not detract from the excellent job you did. Totally loving those sharp edges!

Oh, and I just noticed the squares on the bottom tier. Nice touch!

I love your cake and the design- very nice...and I am entirely too fond of bourbon, chocolate and cheesecake. I would have hung around this table the entire event!

Thank you guys so much for your advice & kind comments. This was way out of my comfort zone! Way! I do think I would make a few changes to the curvy design. It was all created and laid piece by piece so each side is just a bit different from the others. I just couldn't figure out how to transfer it as a whole so it stayed exactly in place. It was very tricky to put them on buttercream without nicking anything!

Oh no! I just read your last note - you needn't feel embarassed because obviously your momma taught you how to be gracious to the extent that I didnt even know I aggravated you! :)

Cake Club: Love this design and colors! I am extremely fond of differing heights with square cakes - I love the architectural interest. Great job on the sharp edges! And those flavors sound awesome :)
