@olybaker - most of the time I use Almond Bark (Plymouth Pantry) to coat, coloring with oil-based food colors to fit the project. I've had good results with consistency of AB right out of the package...it dries fast and thin, and does not have excessive flavoring so the taste of cake (vs candy) comes through. but this time, for the dark red pops, I used candy melts (Wilton)...and was not altogether impressed. consistency of melts was thick/globby which I corrected with CK Paramount Crystals...still took alot longer to dry, coating was thicker and overly sweet, and upclose the color looked splotchy/chalky.
