In community album: Children's Birthday Cakes
This was my first cake for Icing Smiles, a charity that provides cakes for very sick children and their families. It was for Gabby, a 12 year old girl with a brain tumor. She loves Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse and asked for something funny and colorful.

I have free tutorials for both Hello Kitty and the ice cream ‘accident’ on my Facebook Page, in my Notes.

I used a fabulous tutorial for the giant cupcake by Tea Party Cakes, which you can find in her Facebook shop.

The cake is based on the style of Andrea's Sweetcakes – thank you, AndreaMy friend Kate from Kendon's Candies gave me a bag full of lollipops to use on the cake. Thank you, Kate! Thanks finally to Gabriela from Moybella Cakes for creating a popcorn tutorial just for me. :-)

Wonderful!!!! Can I ask you how you made the "melting effect" between the bottom cake and the popcorn recipient from above. Since Im a Spanish speaker, I dont know if I explain myself right...
Let me know!!! best regards!!!. Perhaps you know of a good link on youtube to learn this technique, or tell me how to filter it on my youtube search, since I dont know if "melting effect" is the right way to search for it.
    Best regards again, great job!

Thank you for sharing your work but most of all thank you for supporting Icing Smiles. I'm on the list but haven't received my call to duty yet. I'm so thankful that you created not "just a cake" but a "special cake" for Icing Smiles :D

Yes you can, Summerki, but it is a very different tutorial. The Tea Party Cakes tutorial is actually for a whole cake with a beautiful gerbera daisy too. I needed a tutorial for the candy melt base and for getting the right shape on the top.

It's just fondant cut in a wavy shape, Kattyg, and then I smooth it with my finger. It's quite thick at the edges.
