A design that has been floating around in my head for a while- inspired by a bough of Royal Poinciana overhanging fresh bitumen on a golden summer's day :)
Handmade sugar flowers, polished black fondant and gold lustre.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments! I used Crisco on some foodsafe cloth and buffed the fondant when it had hardened, a bit like polishing shoes really! :)
The petals for each flower were wired, as were the sepals, coloured using petal dusts and then taped together- I used a real flower as a guide for the shapes and colours.
