In community album: Round Wedding Cakes
This is a design by Erica Obrien, fell in love with her cake when I was given a picture of it to copy. This cake was several firsts for me. The first time I've made gumpaste flowers...LOVED making them! This is the biggest cake I've made so far (wow, was it heavy) and also the first time I've used SMBC under fondant and I was quite disappointed in how the fondant ended up looking (not very smooth and had several air bubbles). I guess I need to become more familiar with working with a cold cake. Also, the gold glaze paint I used was disappointing. Not only did it look orange, but it dripped off the chevron pattern when I delivered it and ended up looking very streaky. I would just love to know how Erica Obrien made her chevron look so GOLD! I used the Jessicakes wax paper transfer method to apply the chevron...just love her blog! Sizes are 8", 10", 12". Vanilla Bean, Coconut, and Strawberry Cakes. TFL
