How did you attach your poms to the side of the cake? I used Sophie's tutorial a while back, but I had a heck of a time with the poms sliding down the cake and tearing the fondant as they fell (even with skewers) :/ I've since seen Marina Sousa use melted chocolate to attach small things to cakes, but I fear the weight would still rip at the fondant. I'd love to hear your method!!!

What cutter did you use to cut the chevron pattern? This cake is beautiful! I love the clean lines.

sorry, I just read these chevrons were hand cut - WOW.... did you have a pattern? I have a wedding coming up that uses this style.

Thank you everyone! The pom poms are attached using royal icing. This is a display cake, so I couldn't use skewers to hold them in place (getting them through polystyrene/styrofoam is impossible!). If it were a real cake, then I would use a large skewer and RI to hold them in place. I placed the large one on first, which rests on the tier below, then placed the others around it. So far so good! (I let my icing harden on the cake before I attached them too).
