thanks for all the lovely comments! i used strips of fondant folded in half and then applied the middle part with my finger tips. lots of time and lots of tissue propping!
Hi Ann-Jannae it wasn't a mould, i hand piped the cage with royal icing over wax paper and a dummy cake, re piped over once dried and carefully removed from dummy...this was my 3rd attempt without breaking it!
Aweome cake, as the new design elements to some of us. It would be great if you could do a tutorial on some of the more difficult elements, such as th RI cage, the hand rolled, yet different size/color pearls, and the ,of course, the bottom tier. I have seen ruffles done this way and all flowers done this way , but never both together on a single tier. Its beautiful. But a lot of us wouldnt even begin to know where to start to get the phenomenal effect that you did!! Cudos to you!!
Thank you so so much for all the wonderful comments, I'm staggered. I tried to add the pearls and beads to a fondant strip but found it way too hard so i piped royal icing in stages around attaching the pearls in handfuls over a sheet tray and they filing the gaps in individually with the larger hand rolled pearls. Time consuming but really worth the effect.
for the tips on the cage
