chocolate-coated chocolate cake decorated with fresh tulips :) 

my friend vera loves dark chocolate, tulips, and the color pink. i thought i'd combine all these elements to make her a birthday cake. i'm not too happy with the chocolate coating, though. i think it could be much smoother. i hope i can do better next time.

cakes are 3 and 5 inches :) i couldn't get the chocolate coating to be smooth enough because i didn't know how :P the top tier looks ok because i kind of figured out my gameplan only after i did the bottom tier first. lol!

This is way cute. Did you use a ganache?? I've been told that a hair dryer helps smooth out ganache. Haven't used that trick yet.

This is gorgeous! I think the chocolate gives it character! I know you wanted it smoother but I have to say I love it like it is, I don't think I could say enough about it...so simple, so elegant.....perfect!
