I was asked to do a cake for my husband's 45th class reunion, similar to the one I did for my son's birthday earlier. I used the tooled leather mat again for the sides and the numbers, fondant. I did a stain technique to give it depth..only thing is, it appears that I forgot to stain the numbers. Big DUH! Sunflowers a la Sharon Zambito method, fall leaves and lettering gumpaste. I used a 14" chocolate fudge cake with peanut butter cream filling and a 10" carrot cake with cream cheese filling. Leftover carrot cake batter made cupcakes that were topped with a fall leaf on the cream cheese frosting.
