Cute. Are the ornaments edible? If so, what are they made from and covered with?

Great idea - sparkling up the fondant balls. The "glitter" makes it!

Gee, this actually makes me sorry Christmas is over for this season. This is ABSOLUTELY beautiful. And what's the best part about it is that it's a very simple design and doable for many people. Some things you see are so complicated and difficult you feel as though you could never do it. I'm going to assume here the Christmas balls are edible made with fondant, candy clay or gumpaste. This could be done using real ornaments although I would not feel comfortable using Christmas decorations that come pre-glittered. You know how that glitter is on things you buy them, the glitter gets EVERYWHERE and we can all be sure it's NOT edible. If you must use real ornaments I would buy edible glitter and cover plain ornaments with that. However, I don't see what could be much easier than forming a ball from an edible substance. Since cake decorating companies have made available to the home baker things like edible glitter, sanding sugar, pearl dust, and so on and so forth it makes it SO nice cake baking and decorating. This to me is just more proof in how I feel about many things......that less is more and often keeping it simple and clean can be far more elegant and attractive than going way overboard. To this designer and baker of this cake....Well Done and I look forward to future creations!

Yes, the baubles are fondant covered in lustre dust or edible glitter. Thanks :) i also put the topper on a board so it just lifts off to make it easier to cut the cake.
