It's a beautiful cake. I would love to know how you stenciled over buttercream!

Hi tokazodo! Thank you so much. I do it a lot, as here in OK a lot of people prefer buttercream over fondant. I use a crusting buttercream, and after I smooth it, I put it in the fridge over night. I then use a thin royal to stencil with. This allows me to do it in sections (if need be) and the royal dries quickly. I've done buttercream on buttercream as well, which can be a bit stressful. If I do buttercream on buttercream, then I stencil a section, and then put it back in the fridge to dry and set up. Then I do another section. We have a lot of humidity here at times, so that seems to work best with that method!

Beautiful. What type of crusting buttercream do you use?

WOW! Love the stenciling! Fondant in MN isn't exactly a good match either- way too much humidity and most don't like the taste so buttercream wins here, too. Thanks SO much for the tip!!
