Deer cake

I did this deer cake for a hunter's birthday. Chocolate cake with layers of chocolate frosting. The neck and head are RKT and the antlers are a combination of wire, tape, fondant, and royal icing. like me on facebook: www.facebook.com/dlbbakery

love love love!! how did you get the head to stay with the protruding nose with krispy treats? i always imagined me doing this and it falling with gravity for too heavy? and how did you attach it?

First of all, I want o let everyone know that anything that could go wrong with this, did go wrong, but I learned so many new things about making a cake like this stable. It was all trial and error but in the end, it worked out better than i had planned. The RKT neck and head ended up falling apart so i had to start over with just the neck. I ended up taking a plastic hollow dowel and putting it through the neck part, measured where I wanted the nose, then punched a hole in the dowel (but not all the way through) and then stuck a smaller wooden dowel that was cut to the length needed for the nose. Then i wrapped a bunch of wire around to hold it in place. I made the rkt and molded on the head and neck after that. This worked very well.
