you are doing great if you can find some Viva Brand paper towels wait till your buttercream has crusted and smooth over it with the viva towel and your hand... it will help to get rid of the spatula mark... you can Youtube it. Smooth icing with Viva towels...

I've been practicing doing it with wax paper, I'm planning to try the hot spatula method next. Thanks!
