maybe a dumb question, but how do you get those flowers to stay so nicely on the wires? When I do them, they always bend and sag in all the wrong directions. I've tried to make the fondant/gumpaste as thin as possible... perhaps I need a heavier guage wire?

There are no dumb questions. ;-)
I used 24 gauge wires. The thin fondant hearts and flowers on the wires are double.
So if you see a flower or heart on the wire, it was made by gluing 2 of them together with the wire inbetween.
I let them dry for 2 days. They stayed very well in position.
(I always stick a straw right through the cake, and cut it off at the correct length. Then I put fondant in the straw and put the wires into that.) I hope my answer is clear.
