thanks for your comment. I made 8 inch round cake then cut into top about an inch. I mixed brown and white fondant together to get a marble effect then covered the whole cake. I used a brown colour with vodka to wash over it .This gave it a wood effect.when dry i used glaze. The middle bit i just used modelling paste to make each piece then stuck them together . Hope this makes sense
