Lemon Chiffon cake with orange buttercream filling covered in MMF. Studs on Tuxedo are candy. Topper is Disney Mickey and Minnie in Crystal. Candy pearls cover the back half of the top tier.
Beautiful! I"d love to make that one day. I'd love to make more wedding cakes but it's like getting your first credit card when you're young...no one wants to give you credit unless you already have it BUT...how can you, when they won't give you the credit in the first place? Yes, I'm venting...thanks for reading :-).
@Overboard...start out by making "dummy" wedding cakes. Use styrofoam cores to present your art. Build up a portfolio of your artwork and learn the structure needed to support a wedding cake. When the opportunity presents itself, volunteer to make a friend or family member their wedding cake as a gift. For family gatherings make the bottom a "dummy" and the top smaller tiers real cake to serve. The idea is to build a portfolio that has your artwork presented.
I LOVE THIS!!! This would be the perfect "dummy" cake. How long can you keep fondant on a dummy cake? Is there a way for it to harden like modeling clay so you can keep it forever?
AlicesMadBatter: Yes, fondant will dry into a hard candy type substance and you can keep it for a very long time on a dummy. However, it will get dusty so make sure you store it in a case, dust it as needed.
