A Wedding Cake Made For My Sons Recent Wedding This Fall Themed Cake Was Inspired By One Done By The Pink Cakebox The Bottom Layer Was A

A wedding cake made for my son's recent wedding. This fall-themed cake was inspired by one done by the Pink Cakebox. The bottom layer was a 16" round covered with fondant and then wrapped with chocolate modeling clay and topped with a fondant "wood" ring. The other layers were covered with and decorated with MFF. The squirrel couple topper was made by a dear friend from polymer clay as a wedding keepsake. I modeled the two corgis from fondant/gumpaste to represent the couple's two corgis. Although the stained glass window behind the cake was gorgeous, it made it really difficult to get good photos! The band around the bottom of the second tier mimiced the 'blended hearts' pattern that I used to make their wedding quilt. So, lots of personally symbolic stuff on this cake. The kids were surprised and loved it! (They thought I was making a more elegant, traditional fall cake :)
