Try making the basket weave with a 47 or 48 tip. It's flat and looks very real. Just be sure to pipe the first line twice. Use a four pronged fork with the middle two broken off to "draw" the upright lines first. This gives you a guide. Use a triangle resting on the cake board to keep the lines from leaning. You did a nice job. Wilton class?
Oh, I didn't see the comment until today! Thank you NonSuch. Yes it's Wilton class, final cake of course 2. I realized I needed tip 47 for a more flat basket weave when I was in the class working on it. But my class kit doesn't include tip 47... and the instructor told us to use tip 16... but some students had tip 47... Anyway, thank you for your suggestion!
