Fourth Of July Firework Cake

Fourth Of July Firework Cake on Cake Central

My 2nd fondant cake. I auctioned it off and made about $15! It was a humid day and by the end of it, almost all the royal icing stars had fallen off! It was a lot of fun to make.

Wow, that's really cool! Did you do the stars and stripes on the fondant before or after you put it on the cake? I'm sticking this in my favorites for future reference.

Thanks! For the stripes I first covered the cake in white fondant, than carefully cut out stripes, used them as a template to cut out the red stripes and placed them in the spaces on the cake. The stars I used a cookie cutter after I had placed the fondant on the cake. Then I cut out and placed the corresponding white stars into the spaces. :)

I love it!! Being in the military, I'm always getting requests for red, white & blue cakes. Making this one a favorite for inspiration later on!!

Wow, cutting out fondant after it's on the cake... I wondered how you did that, too, to get the stars and stripes perfectly aligned. Looks fantastic!
