Care Bears
This was my little girl's birthday cake.......she helped with it! (She is 4) She thought it was "beautiful"! First time working with rolled buttercream! Tasted awesome- but a little hard to roll out a large piece big enough to cover the cakes. Sorry for the bad pic- had to use my camera on my phone. Will post a better pic when they are developed
Adorable cake...How did you get the 3D effect on the top rainbow?
It is rolled buttercream that I molded into a rainbow shape and let dry overnight. It would not get hard, so I mad some clouds out of mini marshmallows and covered them in RB as well- and placed them behind the rainbow! Thanks for all of the comments!
That is a fantastic cake! You should be very proud!
Thank you! It made us both proud when we finally finished! LOL!
I love your cake! The colors and design just make the heart sing! What recipe do you use for the rolled buttercream? I've been wanting to try it out too.
Loved your design, I am making a Care Bears cake this month and I hope you don't mind getting a couple of ideas from your design.
I used the recipe from this site! Like I said, it tasted great- just not pliable enough to roll out and cover the entire cake. All of the clouds, rainbows, and sun are all made out of RB as well. LaCakeria- use whatever you like! I'm glad you all like it as much as my little angel!
Your daughter is right, it is beautiful and especially special because you let her help! Great job!
That's so cute!! I love it!
Great deatils!!
I showed this cake to my daughter and she said "That's what I want!!!" So, if you don't mind, I am going to borrow your beautiful idea. Did you use a 6" on a 10"?
I love this one! How did you get the sun to stay on the cake?
Go right ahead! It was a very fun cake- especially b/c my daughter helped! She says she wants to bake cakes like her mommy when she grown up! LOL! Yes, I did use a 6 on top of a 10! Be sure and post a picture!
Liana, I just stuck it on with some buttercream- the rays are attached with toothpicks. Thanks for the nice comments! You guys are an awesome confidence booster!
