"destroyer Cake"

"destroyer Cake" on Cake Central

A retired navy seaman's wife asked if I could make a destroyer cake...Everything was edible except the flag and candle! Didn't quite come out like a destroyer, but close enough and they loved it! I used the Rich's Bettercreme icing for all of the icing, and royal icing for the add ons.

Thanks Lisa, I'm feeling brave (would that be the appropriate word!)posting some of the cakes that I've done in the past!

LOL! Thanks you guys! It's all cake. 9 x 13 single layer bottom, ship cut from 10" round and put together with icing. No plans, just kept looking at a picture I found on a naval destroyer web site and cutting pieces to look like what I wanted. Hubby knocked over one of the "radio tower things" delivering it, but he set it up right again. I don't think the person who ordered it knew everything was edible ~ they left the ship alone! It was all chocolate cake, and tasted pretty good.

Thank You again, all of you! You'd be surprised what you all can do, some great cake decorators out there! Oh, by the way, if I am looking at this correctly, I want to thank the "Troll" whomever you are for the poor rating. If you'd be so kind as to tell me who you are we can critique this together ~and if you have some idea of what would have been better, please tell me, really I wouldn't mind.

I appreciate the comments, Thanks! The waves were done using a simple table knife, then touched up with the white icing.
