These are some lilies I made for a cake sampling. The bride will be using red callas and want's a red velvet cake...Woohoo! I figured it would help to have a sample of the flower she wants to help her decide...It was a great idea as i got the deal!
I don't actually have a cutter for them, but enlarged a copy of an actual cutout to make this medium sized callas. The centers were made of yellow gumpaste and let dry...Then moistened with glue and dipped in cornmeal. Used a cornhusk veiner for inside detail.
Per your question: well Godiva, here is a case of the novice giving an expert some advice, which is very hard because your cakes are beautiful....in my art world, on the color wheel, the opposite of red is green....maybe a little forest green highlighter dust to darken the edges a bit......
