This is wonderful. May I ask how you get the cornelli lace on the sides of the cake? Great job!
cindycakes2 4/4/05 at 1:10pm
I put the cake on my turntable, which is on the countertop. Then, when doing the side cornelli lace, I sit down in a kitchen table chair, which places me below the cake. That way, I can angle my tip slightly to the side and down as I squeeze, and the icing flows out to lay perfectly on the side of the cake that way. Thanks to all for the nice comments!

This was very nice. I read one of your comments in the forum about getting the sides smooth. Please tell me the trick!!
cindycakes2 7/11/05 at 9:00pm
To get the sides smooth....I use the decorators icing recipe in the Wilton book, but use all Criscoe, and 2 T. Karo white syrup added to it. Crumb coat cake, let dry, put final coat of icing on and let "crust" slightly. Then, using VIVA paper towels, place towel over side of cake, rub gently with your hand in an up and down motion, then lightly lift VIVA towel from icing. Continue doing tops and sides. Works great!
