Anyone know how I could have finished the bottom neatly? For some reason I do better with novelty cakes...these ones that "everyone" knows how to do are difficult for me for some reason! Anyway the bow is made of candy...I tried a fondant one and it didn't work out so someone showed me how to make the candy melt kind and it did work! I definately need practice though.... no wonder I can't get any wedding cake orders!!!!

Oh, I think your bow came out beautifully! I've always been scared to try fondant on a square cake. You did a great job. :)

love the cake very nice, one thing i have found with roll out icing is to make sure it is thick enough to get a good cut at the bottom,, when the icing is thin its hard to get a neat edge, i also use the tip of a knife to slightly tuck the cicing undernath the cake alittle if it doesnt come ou quite right, hth

I think you definitely have to put some sort of border where the fondant meets the board. At least for me it's just too difficult to get the fondant perfect and a border helps.

GREAT BOW!! I agree with "beads" at the bottom. PS I'm better at novelty cakes too! Wedding Cakes make me too nervous!
