I had some extra batter from another cake so I made this. I have a really hard time making the sides perfectly straight up and down, and not quite sure how to fix it. suggestions?

Nice colors...looks like it could be for a bridal shower. As far as the sides....are your cakes filled? What sort of pans do you use? Some of my pans have slanted sides as opposed to straight up and down so I usually trim the sides with a large bread knife staight down. If they are filled, did you put in a dam first?
