The bow is made of colored fondant and through a comedy of errors ended up with the shiny sort of blotchy look. The scrolls were made a week in advance using colored royal icing. I made them on wax paper and then applied them to the cake. This is a carrot cake with regular cream cheese icing. I wanted something manly yet fun so I chose the brown and (supposed to be) bronze colors.
Love it! Never would have thought of doing the scroll work ahead of time. Great job!

Gorgeous! I love the look of the scrolls actually pressed into the buttercream. Very cool!
