Cymbidium Orchid & Filler Flower
First attempt at this gumpaste orchid and filler flower. I had difficulty wiring the sepals and petals to the throat. I would appreciate tips and constructive criticism from the CC community, especially regarding its realism, wiring ,and staging for the photo. Hoping the photo uploads clearly. Thanks for looking!
Wow!!! This is your first attempt??? I'm can't imagine my first attempt being 1/2 this good! Sorry I can't offer any tips, but I will say that I think this is gorgeous!!
Your flowers look life-like to me, gorgeous! Did you take a class?
Thats truly gorgeous...I wish my flowers were near that level..well..it gives me something to shoot for! Lovely work!
beautiful! I have never tried, but you make me want th give it a shot.
gorgeous!
Looks great!
As an Orchid Hobbyist, I appreciate the time and effort you put into making a very realistic orchid!
Yes, I did. Like Godiva, I took a gumpaste orchid class with Scott Clark Woolley, NYC. He is an excellent teacher, and a fine person as well. I recommend him highly.
Your orchid is beautiful, as well as your stephanotis. If you took a class from Scott, then have your basic tools for sucess. I have to give it to him. With Scott, you are able to go home and recreate the flowers you made in school. Perhaps let your petals cup less so that they do not touch the other petals too much. This type of flower is super fragil due to the multiple of large petals. Continue to practice. Once you stop, it takes a while to get the hang of it . Good luck...can't wait to see more.
Ok, thanks for the tip sewshery. I will try to remember the next time I make one. You're right, practice makes perfect!
Breathtakingly beautiful!!!
